Muscle Spasms

Muscle spasms are involuntary contractions of the muscle, where the muscle feels like it's shaking or twitching uncontrollably. Muscle spasms may be painful and disrupt sleep. An occasional spasm is normal, often a result of strain. Repeated or severe spasms should be examined by a medical professional, as underlying health issues are likely causing it.
Muscle spasms can have various causes, but the most common is muscle fatigue or overuse, which can lead to involuntary contractions or cramps. Dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, and nerve damage or irritation can also cause muscle spasms. In some cases, underlying medical conditions such as multiple sclerosis or spinal cord injuries can contribute to muscle spasms.
